Rookie wide receiver Alan Bonner took some time out with us during rookie mini camp to discuss how his first days as a Houston Texan were going. We asked Bonner how his adjustment to an NFL wide receiver was going, about his relationship with DeAndre Hopkins and what it meant to be a small school player (Jacksonville State) in the NFL.

On the first day of rookie mini camp, we caught up with second round draft pick safety D.J. Swearinger. Impressive the entire three days, we talked to Swearinger about his leadership, his promise to South Carolina before he signed, what it means to be with Sam Montgomery in Houston and much more.

Rookie offensive tackle Brennan Williams is an imposing figure at 6-6 and 316 lbs. and looks the part of an NFL offensive tackle. Williams will be working at right tackle and we had the chance to catch up with him on the last day of rookie mini camp.

We talked about his knee injury scare, how the offensive zone schemes from North Carolina and Houston compare, and how he is looking forward to working with Duane Brown.

As the first week of practice winded down, starting Houston Texans outside linebacker Brooks Reed took some time out to talk to us about how camp has been going for him.

After a full week of training camp in the books, we had the chance to talk to rookie outside linebacker from Bowie State, Delano Johnson. Better known as “Lo”, Johnson at 6-4 280 lbs. looks the part of being an NFL linebacker.

Gifted with rare talents, Johnson on Saturday deflected three passes, one on a pass rush and two while dropping in coverage. The most impressive part was how high he jumped for one of the deflections. His athleticism is something to watch and lucky for us we have seen how hard Johnson has been working out and learning during training camp.

We had a chance to catch up with Houston Texans starting safety Danieal Manning, and after an impressive first week of camp we touched on a few topics of camp. Manning has been a leader during camp and we asked him about his second year in Wade Phillips system, how the lockout affected him last season and his relationship with Glover Quin.

If there is one Houston Texans’ player that we had to catch up to, it was quarterback T.J. Yates. One of the more beloved Texans to suit up, #13 won the respect of his teammates and Texans fans everywhere. After only leading the most important drive in team history and leading the team to their first ever playoff win, the 2011 season was a blur to Yates.

The off-season was a breath of fresh air for Yates and we had a chance to talk about the off-season, the addition on John Beck and Case Keenum to the quarterback room, and his noticeable weight loss from last season.
