Andre Johnson Dealing with a Concussion
Head Coach Gary Kubiak confirmed that wide receiver Andre Johnson suffered a concussion late in the 4th quarter of the Tennessee Titans game at Reliant. Johnson made the catch and took a big hit from safety Bernard Pollard, but it looks like the back of Johnson’s head hit the ground hard on the way down.
Reports were that Johnson was ready to go back into the game the next play but concussion issues across the NFL would not allow him to come back that quick. Johnson now will go through the concussion protocol before being cleared to come back to full contact football activities.
Head Coach Gary Kubiak had this to say today at his press conference:
“He did have a concussion and he’s obviously in the protocol. He’s doing great today. He rode the bike today. He’s doing great but he’s in the protocol.”
On Johnson’s status for the Baltimore game on Sunday:
“I think, obviously, it will be an end of the week decision because he’s got to go through the process but I think after the game talking to him and seeing where he’s at today, obviously he’s doing really well. I would expect the progress to go pretty quickly if it goes like it has the last 24 hours.”
