James Davis “Sounding” Like He is a Texan

Scouring the twitter feeds it sounds like free agent James Davis is now a potential Houston Texans practice squad player. He himself has confirmed that he has been here with the Houston Texans when he told someone who his new team is the “Houston Texans”. Once again the Texans have not confirmed it but Davis himself said it was hot down here, and he was getting ready for practice. Also, last night he said that he was hurrying to get on a flight, the destination was unknown.

Davis was a 6th round draft pick in the 2009 draft, when he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the 195th pick overall. He spent two years in Cleveland and late in the 2010 season he signed with the Washington Redskins. He has not been with a team since 2010, but has played in 9 career NFL games and has 75 yards on 28 career rushing attempts.

Davis was a play maker at Clemson University, he led the Tigers in rushing his first three seasons  and was named ACC Rookie of the Year and honorable Mention All American his freshman year. Then his next two years he was 1st team All-ACC, the first time since Terry Allen did it in 1986 and 1987. Slowed by injury in his senior year, Davis led the team in rushing and is the first Tiger to ever hold this accomplishment to lead the team in rushing each of his four seasons.

It has not become official but it looks like Davis is here to potentially to take the practice squad vacancy left by Chris Ogbonayya replacing Steve Slaton on the active roster.
