Texans Bring Back an Old Face

The Houston Texans continued their roster shuffle with the signing of free agent punter Matt Turk. As we know Turk served as the Texans punter for the 4 years (2007-2010) and was released coming into the 2011 season. Turk at the age of 43, was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars during the start of the season but was released after 5 games with the team.

Turk was brought in to replace the rookie Brett Hartmann who tore his ACL last Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Turk is not the best punter on the free agent market, this signing has to do with his familiarity with holding the ball for kicker Neil Rackers. He knows the system and provides another veteran for this stretch run for the Texans. The Texans punting game has be average this season, let’s hope Turk still has something left in the tank for the kicking game.
