Contract Talk: Arian Foster

In this series we are going to look at the potential free agents of the Houston Texans, and figure out if they work into the plans for the coming years….

There is probably not a more popular player with the Houston Texans right now than Arian Foster. Foster came off the Texans practice squad in 2009 and has gone from a no name to perinneal Pro Bowler in less than two years. Still playing with his original contract, it is time for something to give.

Foster since coming to Houston has only the franchise rushing lead in touchdowns with 29 and is only 98 yards from being the all-time leading rusher in Texans history in just over 2 seasons.

He has made two Pro Bowls, solidified the Texans running game and is the complete back with his ability to catch and pass protect. Foster is a once in a lifetime talent with his play on the field, and personality off it. To think the Texans will chance not to bring back Foster is crazy, yes he is a restricted free agent and teams will have to pay a hefty price to get him out of Houston.

Foster showed some class this offseason not holding out for a bigger contract after a big 2010 campaign, and proved the second season in a row that he is the real deal. The Texans have to pay him accordingly to the league going rate, and he is easily a top 5 running back in the league. The front office has a chance to lock up Foster in a Texans uniform for some time.

Chance Returning to Houston: 99.9% positive, .1% for the variables of life.
