Texans Make Moves Heading into 2012

The Houston Texans continued multiple moves to clear up some cap space heading into the 2012 season. The moves are as follows.


* Texans awarded another $1.6 million dollars in cap space for Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys front loaded contracts during the 2011 season.

* Eric Winston was cut early Monday afternoon. The Texans save $4.5 million against the cap.

* Andre Johnson restructured his contract to free up cap space was guaranteed to $7.5 million dollars for the 2012 season. (via twitter: Mark Berman)

* Backup quarterback and 2nd year Texan, Matt Leinart was cut. The Texans save $1.75 million against the cap.



* Starting Fullback, Lawrence Vickers, is waived. (Vickers signs with the Dallas Cowboys)

* Safety Quintin Demps not tendered, now a free agent to sign elsewhere.



Mario Williams signs with the Buffalo Bills.



* Mike Brisiel signs with the Oakland Raiders.

* Chris Myers resigns with the Houston Texans.



* Jason Allen signs with the Cincinnati Bengals.

* Eric Winston signs with the Kansas City Chiefs. (See the Chiefs Release on the Signing/ 4 years $22 million)



* DeMeco Ryans is traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for draft picks.



* Joel Dreessen signs with the Denver Broncos.



* Punter, Donnie Jones signs a one year deal with the Houston Texans.



* Texans wide receiver, Kevin Walter, takes a pay cut to stay in Houston.

    wtf we went to playofffs with third string qb and one reciever our o line held for less sacks in history and on day1 of free agencies we do nothing. and how many times did foster git stopped and we changed rb and got the job done now we want to trade for 22 pick. were freeing up money for what SO WE CAN BUY ANOTHER TEAM!!!!!!

  2. it seems that the more we pick at our OLine the less and less space our running back as to go as well and schuab running for his life again.hang on houston remenber what got you to were we our now.dont throw it all away.
