Tale of the Tape

Height: 6-5

Weight: 305 lbs.

40 yard dash: 4.84

Mondek has started for the Boilermakers over the past two seasons and slowly worked his way up the draft boards as the process moved on.

At Purdue, Mondek started his career as a defensive tackle (2008-2009) and, despite his red shirt freshman year, he appeared in all the games for the Boilermakers as a defensive tackle. In those two seasons as a defensive tackle he posted 15 total tackles and 2 sacks. During the off-season before the 2010 football year, Mondek was moved to right tackle and in his junior season he started all 12 games for the Boilermakers. His Senior season he was moved to the guard position and started all 13 games.  Despite three different positions played by Mondek in college, he impressed and persevered with the change.

His position change might have hurt him in his NFL draft stock as scouts could not get a good look at what he could do. With that said, his pro day numbers show he is very athletic for his size and could possibly provide some depth as a developmental offensive lineman for the Texans. Mondek did have a private workout for the Texans and in the long run it looks like the Texans got who they wanted.
