Sunny Harris Lost for the Year

According to Head Coach Gary Kubiak, nose tackle Ra’Shon “Sunny” Harris was lost today for the season with a torn tricep injury. Harris will probably end up on the injured reserve, but that move is yet to happen.

Harris was having a good camp but was slowed at the beginning with an upper leg injury that held him out the first preseason game. He appeared in the second preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers and played plenty of snaps and registered 3 total tackles (1 solo and 2 assists). With Harris out for the season, the Texans have two healthy nose tackles for this Saturday against the New Orleans Saints in Earl Mitchell and Hebron “Loni” Fangupo. Look for both to get plenty of work in the 3rd preseason game.

Also defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said that Jared Crick and Tim Jamison can play nose tackle, if needed.

Rumors are the Texans might be in the market to bring in some nose tackle help for the remainder of preseason.

Man, I really hate to hear this about Harris. I thought he was a good find. He could have really pushed Mitchell for playing time had he been healthy. Now Fangupo has an opportunity to move into the lineup. I hope he takes full advantage of it.
