Rashad Butler Lost for the Season

Shortly after losing out the starting right tackle position, offensive tackle Rashad Butler was lost for the season with a right triceps injury suffered in the second quarter against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite being just a preseason game, the Texans took a big blow to their offensive tackle depth, and during a post game press conference had Head Coach Gary Kubiak “concerned” about the depth at that position.

Butler was better suited to handle the swing tackle duties for the Texans in 2012, but that will be all for not after the injury. He suffered the same injury to the left arm last season during a practice session at the beginning of the season, which also ended his 2011 season prematurely. Two seasons in a row Butler has landed on injured reserve and this game could have marked his last time to put on a Texans uniform, especially with him becoming an unrestricted free agent after the season.

With Butler’s injury look for Andrew Gardner to be called upon to replace Butler at the current moment, but the Texans will be hard at work looking at all of the waived players from different NFL teams coming through tomorrow, just in case a better player might come along.
