Cushing Lost for the Year

The Houston Texans have been fortunate enough to escape the injury bug, but a big blow was dealt to the team when Brian Cushing was lost for the season with a left ACL injury. Head Coach Gary Kubiak confirmed the news in his weekly press conference at Reliant Stadium. The injury occurred when New York Jets offensive lineman Matt Slauson cut Cushing from behind while the play was already away from the two in the middle of the field. This is the first real big blow the Texans have dealt with in 2012, and it couldn’t have happened to a more important piece of the Texans foundation.

This is a huge issue for the Texans, especially with the lack of depth they have at inside linebacker.  It leaves the Texans with only three healthy inside line backers with Bradie James, Mister Alexander and Tim Dobbins. Dobbins filled in for Cushing during the Jets game, while James stayed in during dime situations, but the reason for concern is there.

The Texans will have to make a roster move to fill the loss of Cushing, stay tuned for the moves that will coincide with this huge loss to the defense.
