Darryl Sharpton Activated; Nolan Waived

This week, the Houston Texans activated inside linebacker Darryl Sharpton from the Physically Unable to Perform List and released backup safety Troy Nolan.  Sharpton has been injured since last season when he tore his quadricep against the Jacksonville Jaquars, and he is set to make his 2012 season debut this weekend against the team that prematurely ended last year’s season.  Sharpton was originally on track to return at the beginning of Training Camp, however, he had a setback while in rehab with a hip issue.  After a prolonged rehab, Sharpton finally returned to the practice field and was given full clearance this week.

According to Head Coach Gary Kubiak, Sharpton will see game time action against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite missing the previous 9 games this season.  The addition of Sharpton gives the Texans four healthly inside linebackers in Sharpton, Bradie James, Tim Dobbins and Barrett Ruud.

With the activation of Sharpton comes the news that Troy Nolan has been released from the Texans for the second time this season.  Nolan, who had been released after Training Camp, was resigned when safety Quintin Demps broke his forearm and thumb.

Texans fans have been anxiously awaiting the return of Sharpton and it will be nice to see how he dusts off the cobwebs and performs this Sunday.
