Zgonina Added to Texans Coaching Staff

Former Houston Texans defensive lineman, Jeff Zgonina has rejoined the organization as the team’s assistant defensive line coach. He will be helping current defensive line coach Bill Kollar who has been with the Texans since the 2009 season.

Zgonina is a 17 year NFL veteran who played for seven different teams and joined the Texans as a player in 2007 and played 48 games for the team. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1993 in the 7th round of the NFL Draft out of Purdue. While with the St. Louis Rams he won a Super Bowl in 2000 and for his career he totaled 448 tackles, 26 sacks and 13 fumble recoveries.

In 2009, he retired from the NFL and he will be with his college position coach Kollar (Purdue) helping teach the defensive lineman. Zgonina has been coached by Kollar at Purdue, the Atlanta Falcons, the St. Louis Rams and the Texans.
