James Casey Signed by the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed free agent James Casey who has been with the Houston Texans since 2009. Casey was drafted in 2009 in the 5th round (152nd overall) in the NFL draft out of Rice University. He had a career year in 2012 with 34 catches and 330 yards with 3 touchdowns.

Used as a fullback in Houston, the thinking was he was not being utilized correctly in the Texans offense with his role. More of a H-Back player it will be interesting to see how the Eagles will use him in their new offense compared to his use in Houston.

With this move the Texans have four tightends under contract in Owen Daniels, Garrett Graham, Jake Bryne and Phillip Supernaw. Also, it leaves the team with one fullback on the roster, Tyler Clutts.
