Day 3 Wrap Up: Texans Free Agency

Another starter was lost, but the excitement picked up with the arrival of a new safety talking to the Texans. The Texans look like they are closing in on their first off-season acquisition of the 2013 NFL season, and it might be a player this team needs to help change the culture from a disappointing end to the 2012 season.

Day 3 Notes

Connor Barwin has left for Philadelphia to join James Casey and the new look Eagles. Barwin signed a six-year deal worth up to $40 million dollars, but on $8 million of that is guaranteed.

Brice McCain‘s agent, David Canter, has stated that two teams are interested in McCain and there should be a deal in place by this weekend. Both teams were not named. (It seems like the Chargers, Saints and Texans are in play for McCain.)

Glover Quin’s contract numbers were released, after seeing the contract numbers it is a reality that the Texans did not have Quin in the long term plans.

Free Agent, Ed Reed

Free Agent, Ed Reed

– The big story coming out of Reliant was the visit of Ed Reed and the potential for him finalizing a deal Friday. Reed spent all day in Houston and is staying the night after having dinner with the Texans brass that included Andre Johnson and Chris Myers (Teammates from Miami) Thursday night. Word is that this is close to being a done deal entering Friday and an announcement could be coming soon.
