Day 4 Wrap-Up: Texans Free Agency

After much anticipation and talk of free agent safety Ed Reed signing with the Houston Texans on Friday, it was all quickly shot down when Reed left home for Atlanta with no deal.

Day 4 Notes

– The Texans signed their only restricted free agent in Andrew Gardner who was an offensive tackle on the roster last season.

Alan Ball

Alan Ball

– Free agent running back Justin Forsett  has signed a one year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Forsett who was the team’s third running back and special teams player will put the team in the market to sign or draft a free agent runningback for 2013.

– Also special teams standout defensive back, Alan Ball, has signed with the Jaguars also joining Forsett. Ball was one of the few bright spots on special teams in 2012, which was not saying too much with the units poor play.

– Ed Reed has left Houston without  a deal and with all of the signs pointing he was going to on Friday.

Reed has also given his agent the go ahead and continue negotiating with the Texans over the weekend. Even though teams Reed can go to are drying up, it looks the Texans or a return to the Baltimore Ravens are the choices. It was also stated the Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome has had contact with Reed’s camp throughout the negotiating process with the Texans.
