Report: Texans Looking into Dumervil?

Reports have surfaced the Houston Texans could be interested in free agent outside linebacker, Elvis Dumervil. The Texans were linked with contacting Dumervil along with the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions.

Dumervil was going to take a pay cut to stay with the Denver Broncos after a fax machine and lack of communication led to his release. He would like to stay with the Broncos, but the dead money accumulated with Dumervil’s untimely release could prevent him going back to Denver.

The Texans may be courting free agent safety Ed Reed, but Dumervil will help strengthen a pass rush deficient defense if the rumors are true.

Dumervil was drafted in 2006 in the 4th round (126th overall) out of Louisville. At 5-11 and 260 lbs. the 29-year-old Dumervil has 63.5 sacks in 7 seasons with the Broncos, and has posted double-digit sacks in three seasons. He became a full-time starter in 2007 and had his most success as a 3-4 outside linebacker.
