Reed Decision to Come this Week

According to the USA Today, Ed Reed’s decision on where he will play in 2013 should be made this week according to Baltimore Raven’s General Manager, Ozzie Newsome.

“Four years ago, we went down this same road with Ray, Dave always does a very good job of keeping us in the loop. That doesn’t mean that Ed will come back, and it doesn’t mean that he will leave.”

This comes on the heels of a two-day courtship of the free agent safety at Reliant where owner Bob McNair flew his private jet to pick up Reed in Atlanta. Reports show that Reed’s camp has been in contact with Newsome the entire time while on the visit to Houston, which should leave the Texans on alert.

Reed has spent his entire 11 year career in Baltimore which finally ended with a Super Bowl Championship this past season, the team he once knew is no longer intact especially on the defensive side. It is hard to break a player away from the team that drafted them especially this far down the road in Reed’s career. Speculation of him signing in Houston could be for not.

The decision will come and if Reed doesn’t sign with the Texans it will not be the end of the world, but it will make the organization look foolish for the publicity pointed directly at Reed. Reed has all the leverage now on where he wants to play in 2013, Houston or Baltimore.

There are plenty of free agent targets for the Texans to sign if Reed does not pan out, but it is apparent that Reed has been their target from the opening of free agency. Where he will end up on Reed knows, but it is time to put this story to an end.
