Texans Retain Brice McCain

The Houston Texans have agreed to terms with cornerback Brice McCain and is the first unrestricted free agent that the team has resigned on the market. McCain is a very underrated piece of the Texans secondary and this will bring back their starting nickel cornerback that played lights out in 2011. His 2012 season was cut short after he broke his foot against the Tennessee Titans during week 13 of the season.

McCain in 2012 appeared in 12 games and posted 24 tackles with one interception, but his value lies in his ability to cover the middle of the field. His best season was in 2011 when he was a difference maker for the Texans with his tight coverage and sure tackling.

He will be penciled in as the nickel cornerback to team with Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson as one of the best trios in the NFL when it comes to cornerbacks. McCain was drafted in 2009 in the 6th round (188th overall) out of Utah and is a Dallas, Texas native. (Terrell High School)
