Texans Land Fullback in Greg Jones

The Houston Texans continued their offseason work with the signing of free agent fullback, Greg Jones. The Texans plucked him away from division foe, the Jacksonville Jaguars where he has been a key piece of their football team since 2004. At 6-1 and 265 lbs. the Texans have added a missing piece of the puzzle.

Jones was drafted from Florida State in 2004 in the second round (55th overall) in the NFL Draft and has been the fullback of choice for the Jaguars. He was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate in 2007 and has been Maurice Jones-Drew’s lead blocker to multiple 1,000 yard seasons.

Despite being hampered by injuries the early part of his career, Jones has been healthy the past few seasons. At 31, the 10 year veteran looks to now clear paths for Arian Foster and Ben Tate and give the Texans offense a key piece of the offense they have been missing, a true fullback.

Jones will join Tyler Clutts as the only fullbacks on the Texans roster and should be a competition to watch heading into training camp.
