Texans Bring Sean Porter for a Workout

UPDATE: The Houston Texans were reported in late March to have expressed some interest in Texas A&M standout outside linebacker Sean Porter. That interest has recently developed into the Texans bringing Porter in for a private workout.


ORIGINAL REPORT: According to Aaron Wilson of, the Houston Texans are showing interest in outside linebacker Sean Porter. Porter went to Texas A&M University and measures in at 6-1 and 229 lbs. and it projected as a 3rd to 4th round prospect for the upcoming NFL draft.

Porter clocked in at a 4.6 40 yard dash at the NFL combine and benched pressed 225 lbs.- 22 times and posted a 35 inch vertical jump.

While playing for the Aggies, Porter had 66 tackles. 3 1/2 sacks, one interception, 6 1/2 tackles for losses and four pass deflections with one forced fumble. He was also invited to the Senior Bowl in Mobile. Alabama. He earned 1st team All-Big 12 honors where his 9 1/2 sacks led the conference.

Porter is from Schertz, Texas where he played high school football for Clemens.

With the departure of Connor Barwin this offseason, the Texans will be in the market for another young player to add to their outside linebackers.
