Agent Tweets About Dobbins’ Absence From OTAs

It is apparent Houston Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins will not report to Reliant until mandatory mini-camp next week (June 11-13th). Dobbins has been absent from OTAs for unknown reasons and today on twitter his agent, David Canter, defended his client not being with his teammates.

Whatever the reason that it may be, it is apparent that there is not much worry from his agent for Dobbins not to be at OTAs with his teammates. There is a confidence that Dobbins could step in and start from day one, but how he is received when he gets to mandatory mini-camp will be a story itself.

The special team captain for the past two seasons, Dobbins helped try to fill the void at inside linebacker last season with all of the injuries. He totaled 43 tackles with 1 interception in 14 games, which he started 6. He has appeared in 29 games for the Texans since 2011 and he is entering his 8th season in the NFL.

After mini-camp, expect this little side story of the start of the 2013 season to disappear by the time training camp comes in August. He signed a 1 year deal worth $905,000 and $360,000 of that guaranteed, and Dobbins is going into his third season with the team.
