Wade Smith Has His Knee Scoped

Houston Texans starting left guard Wade Smith had his knee scoped this morning and his timetable for his return will be clearer in a week. Smith’s knee has been lingering issue for him for over a week and with rest and rehab, it did not respond the way the team wanted it to.

The injury will sideline the Pro Bowl guard and let second year player Ben Jones step into the starting left guard position. Jones was the rookie of the year for the team in 2012 and will be put back into the starting lineup until further notice. Also, rookie David Quessenberry will be a player to watch moving forward, he could possibly fill in at left guard when needed if Smith does not return soon.

It is never good when a team lose a starter, but Smith was considered by many to have a down season in 2012 with his overall performance. It will be interesting to see the approach they have with Smith and in his last year of his free agent deal he signed with the Texans in 2010,  it could be getting close to the end of the road for the 11 year veteran’s time in Houston.

Smith will return to return to the team, but where and when will be the real question.
