DeAndre Hopkins Cleared for Season Opener

Houston Texans rookie wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has passed his last phase of the concussion protocol and is now cleared to return to the field. Hopkins was injured against the Miami Dolphins late in the first quarter after his head hit the ground after a reception across the middle.

He sat out the final two preseason games and it seems like the Texans played it safe with Hopkins by not returning him to the field too early. Hopkins is penciled in to start opposite Andre Johnson week one in San Diego, which will be the first time since 2007 someone other than Kevin Walter will be starting.

It is a welcomed sight for Hopkins to be ready, especially after seeing him on national television on the sidelines of the Clemson and Georgia game looking fine.
