Texans Sign Overbay and Release Boren

The Houston Texans have signed free agent tight end Nathan Overbay to the team’s practice squad. Overbay has spent time with the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.  He checks in at 6-5 and 270 lbs. and attended Easter Washington.

Overbay spent a day with the Texans at their rookie mini-camp as a non roster invitee on a tryout basis and was soon signed by the Steelers in early August. The Texans were interested in tight ends after they worked out free agent tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi on Monday.

With the signing of Overbay, the Texans have released rookie fullback Zach Boren who was signed shortly after being released on their first round of cuts to get down to 75.
