Texans Sign Mack and Promote Mohamed

The Houston Texans, after placing Danieal Manning and A.J. Bouye on the inured reserve, made two moves today to fill their roster spots. The Texans promoted inside linebacker Mike Mohamed off of the practice squad and signed free agent cornerback Elbert Mack.

Mohamed is in his second season out of California and measures in at 6-3 and 243 lbs. He was with the Texans during the preseason and put together a solid stretch of play for the defense. Mohamed was released after the last round of cuts, but was brought back shortly after Roc Carmichael was signed by the Eagles. Mohamed will be instantly plugged into the special teams unit and be called upon to help a struggling unit.

As for Elbert Mack, he too was with the Texans during training camp. Mack, who is entering his 5th season in the NFL, has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints. He is 5-10 and 175 lbs. and has played 65 games (starting 6) with 85 total tackles, 6 career interceptions with 2 touchdowns to his credit. Just like Mohamed, expect Mack to be active and helping on special teams this coming week in Kansas City.
