Keenum Named Starter for Sunday’s Game against Kansas City Chiefs

In a surprise move, the Houston Texans and Head Coach Gary Kubiak have named quarterback Case Keenum the starter for this Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With the injury to Matt Schaub (leg/ankle) who has already been ruled out for the game and the poor performance by T.J. Yates last week against the St. Louis Rams, Keenum gets the call against one of the top defenses in the NFL.

Keenum came to Houston from the University of Houston where he left as the NCAA’s all time leading passer with 19,217 yards. Keenum had a solid preseason where he threw for 482 yards with 3 touchdowns and completed over 68% of his passes.

It will be interesting to see how the offense will evolve with Keenum on the field, but the Texans have made a bold move trying to jump start a slow start to the season.
