Report: Texans To Sign Dennis Johnson

According to Houston Chronicle’s John McClain, the Houston Texans will be signing rookie running back Dennis Johnson off of the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad. The 5-7, 193 lb running back from Arkansas was with the Texans in training camp and rushed for 98 yards on 28 carries in the preseason with a touchdown. He also returned punts and kicks for the Texans in the preseason but was plagued with fumbles during games.

Johnson was waived after the preseason where he was claimed by the Browns, but was moved to their practice squad shortly after. Adding Johnson to the Texans will give the Texans five running backs with the addition of Deji Karim and the promotion of Ray Graham off the practice squad.

Expect Johnson to be part of the special teams if he is active on game days.
