Texans Promote Josh Victorian and Waive Gooden

The Houston Texans have promoted corner back Josh Victorian from the practice squad to the 53 man roster. The move was made after the Texans waived inside linebacker Tavares Gooden with a Left the Squad designation. According to Dave Zangaro (CSN Houston), Gooden left the team on Thursday due to personal reasons, so the Texans waived him in the process.

Victorian has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots and with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has appeared in 4 games in his NFL career with 10 total tackles and 2 pass deflections. The 5-10 and 190 lbs. corner back played his college football at Louisiana Tech and was undrafted.

Victorian being promoted will put him in position to contribute on special teams this week against the Arizona Cardinals, and this opens a spot on the practice squad for the time being. Expect more roster moves going into next week, the Texans now have three healthy inside linebackers for this week in Joe Mays, Jeff Tarpinian and Darryl Sharpton. Linebacker Mike Mohamed has already been ruled out with a hamstring injury for this week’s game.
