The Houston Texans will sign rookie safety Jawanza Starling off of the New York Giants practice squad. Starling was with the Texans during training camp and went through the entire preseason with the team before being released prior to setting the 53 man roster.
Starling was brought in as an undrafted rookie from USC where he started three seasons for the Trojans at strong safety. Starling is 6 foot and 206 lbs. and played sparingly in the preseason for the Texans where he appeared in all four games and registered three tackles.
Starling will be immediately placed on the 53 man roster filling the roster spot of the released Ed Reed.
