Texans Release Ed Reed

The Houston Texans have waived safety Ed Reed today making it a reality that it was a mistake to pursue him in the offseason. Reed came out publicly after a loss to the Arizona Cardinals saying that the Texans were “out coached”.

Today, the Texans admitted their mistake and let the future hall of famer go. The Texans courted him hard during the free agency period by flying owner Bob McNair’s private jet to pick up Reed and bring him back to Houston.

Reed missed the first two games of the season due to a hip injury that seemed to be hid from the Texans. Despite starting after being considered healthy, he was outplayed by Shiloh Keo, who eventually took over as the starter.

Reed has totaled 17 tackles on the season and registered zero interceptions.
