Texans Claim Ricky Sapp Off of Waivers

The Houston Texans have claimed outside linebacker Ricky Sapp off of waivers from the New York Jets. Sapp was waived by the Jets to make room for newly acquired Ed Reed this past week.

Sapp was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010 in the 5th round (134th overall) out of Clemson and spent two seasons with the Eagle on the practice squad. Sapp was signed by the Jets in 2011 and has appeared in 9 NFL games since 2012 and registered 2 total tackles in those nine games.

He will help fill the depth at outside linebacker, but how much he will be used this Sunday will be up in the air. The Texans outside linebackers need help, and maybe Sapp can provide some help to the position.

He is 6-4 and 252 lbs. and in his 3rd season out of Clemson University.
