Texans Sign Brad Smelley

The Houston Texans have signed free agent tight end/H-back Brad Smelley to their practice squad. Smelley was signed by the Cleveland Browns after he went in the 7th round (247th overall) in the 2012 NFL draft out of Alabama, and was recently released by the St. Louis Rams after signing with them prior to Thanksgiving to the practice squad.

Smelley during his senior season with the Crimson Tide had 34 receptions for 356 yards and four touchdowns and was part of two National Championship teams in Tuscaloosa.

At 6-2 and 235 lbs., Smelley appeared in two games for the Browns in 2012 where he had one reception for 3 yards.
