Report: Texans Interested in Nick Saban

Longtime Alabama sports talk show host Paul Finebaum (ESPN, SEC Network) mentioned that the Houston Texans have shown interest in current Alabama Crimson Tide Head Coach Nick Saban. Saban has been with Alabama since 2007 and won three National Championships (2009, 2011, 2012) since arriving to Tuscaloosa. At Alabama, Saban has posted a 74-14 record and recruited some top NFL talent for his Crimson Tide teams.

Saban has also had stops at Michigan State, LSU and the Miami Dolphins as a head coach and holds a 165-56-1 (college record) and a 15-17 (NFL record).

Currently Saban has been tied to the opening that is supposed to come open later this week when University of Texas Head Coach, Mack Brown is set to resign from the position. All signs have Saban being the next head coach in Austin, but this is coming as a late development and another head coaching candidate for the Texans.

I call BS. No way McNair comes close to matching money being offered by UT or Alabama. Especially considering that god awful record he had with Dolphins.

15-17 is god awful? go look at Bellichick’s record before he came to the Pats

Remeber Saban did NOT want Dante Culpepper as his QB when he took over as Miami’s HC and thought he was going to have more control.

My point about the record was relative to the amount of $ Texans would have to pay to get Saban. Are you saying he is the next BB and Texans should make him the highest paid coach in the NFL by matching the $7.5mm to $10mm he is reportedly being offered by Alabama and Texas? Please explain…
