Texans Release OL Coach John Benton

The Houston Texans announced today that offensive line coach John Benton has been fired from his duties with the team. Benton finished his 8th season with the Texans and each was with former head coach Gary Kubiak. He was an instrumental piece in the development of Pro Bowl players Duane Brown and Chris Myers with the Texans.

Benton played college football with Colorado State (1982-1986) and started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his Alma mater. This marks the 17th coach let go by new Head Coach Bill O’Brien since taking over the Texans, and currently special teams Bob Ligashesky is the only 2013 Texans coach with no decision on his future.

Defensive line coach Bill Kollar is the only Texans coach from 2013 staff that has been retained by O’Brien for 2014.
