Report: Mike Vrabel Coming To Houston as LB Coach

As first reported by Kevin Noon from the Buckeye Grove, Ohio State defensive line coach Mike Vrabel is leaving Columbus, Ohio to take a position with the Houston Texans. This is Vrabel’s second season with the Buckeyes, and he also played for The Ohio state from 1993-1996 as a defensive lineman.

At The Ohio State, Vrabel coached the defensive line under Luck Fickell and Urban Meyer and the Buckeye Grove is now saying that he will join Bill O’Brien in Houston for the 2014 season.

Vrabel played 14 seasons in the NFL and won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and finished his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. Vrabel was a big piece of Romeo Crennel’s defenses in New England and even followed him to Kansas City when Crennel became the head coach for the Chiefs. With a defensive line coach in place, Bill Kollar, the Texans could have found a new linebacker coach in Vrabel.

This becomes a nice addition to the Texans new staff and this could be an even clearer sign that Romeo Crennel could not be too far behind in joining the Texans.
