Texans Top 20 of 2013: #2 Andre Johnson

Johnson1

In this series, we look at the top 20 Houston Texans of the 2013 season.

#2

Easily the Houston Texans offensive MVP, Andre Johnson was a one man wrecking crew on offense. Johnson finished the season with 109 receptions for 1,407 yards and 5 touchdowns for the season, and it marked the second season in a row where he played 16 games.

Johnson in 2013 assaulted the NFL record books;

2nd fastest in NFL History to reach 900 receptions, in 150 games

2nd player in NFL history with 5 season with 100 receptions

Most games with 10+ receptions and 100+ yards: 17

Most seasons with 100+ receptions with 1,400+ yards: 4

Johnson has had to evolve his game and has turned into the ultimate possession receiver for the Texans, and his production has not slowed down. Quarterback Case Keenum breathed some life into Johnson this season, especially getting him to the endzone five times which was the most since 2010.

Johnson showed he can still play with the same consistency he has always had and be the most reliable player on offense. Add in the fact he had very little help this season with the exception of DeAndre Hopkins, Johnson carried what was left of the offense. Johnson did play the final four games of the season with a wrist issue that he did not tell anyone about, which led to some bad drops late in the season.

It will be interesting to see how Johnson is going to be used moving forward, but he should once again be a key piece of the Texans offense in 2014.
