Texans Hire Two to Scouting Department

The Houston Texans have added two new hires and a promotion within to their scouting department to replace positions that the team opened up. 

Here are the new hires by the Texans for 2014.

Brian Gaine (Director of Pro Scouting)

Gaine was with the Miami Dolphins in 2013 and was the team’s Personnel Assistant who was a finalist for the vacant general manager position. He was one of three finalists for the Dolphins GM position, and was fired three days after he was not selected at the GM by the team.

Gaine arrived in Miami from the Dallas Cowboys, and worked under Bill Parcells as the Assistant Director of Pro Scouting. He came to Miami with Parcells and worked under him  from 2005-2007. He also spent time in the New York Jets scouting department from 1999-2004 when Parcells was the Head Coach (1999) and the general manager (2000).

Daron Roberts (Pro Scout)

Roberts is a native of Longview, Texas and is a University of Texas graduate. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School and has been in the coaching ranks since 2008 in the NFL. He was the defensive quality control assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs (2008) under Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel. Roberts was also the assistant secondary coach for the Detroit Lions where he edited film and took care of administrative tasks.

He left the NFL to become the inside receivers and special teams coach for West Virginia University in 2012.
