Texans Meet with Derek Carr

Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr confirmed to Marc Vandermeer on SportsRadio 610 that he met with the Houston Texans at the NFL Combine. Carr had this to say this:

“There has been conversations with Houston. It went great, everything has gone good.  The good thing about this week so far for myself is that there’s a lot of, not attention, but a lot of good evaluations, good reports coming back.  And people saying a lot of things that would probably shock some people.”

This should come a little surprised with the need the Texans have at the quarterback position and Carr could be a viable option. Carr at Fresno State started three seasons for the Bulldogs where he threw for 12,843 yards with 113 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. An All-American selection his junior and senior seasons, Carr is only one of 19 quarterbacks to throw for over 10,000 career yards and 100 touchdowns. His final season for Fresno State he became only the 4th quarterback in FBS history to throw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in a season.

Carr was an efficient passer and produced numbers in high volumes at the college level. At 6-2 and 214 lbs., Carr is projecting as a day one or two pick at the moment headed into April’s NFL Draft.
