Texans to Sign Zach Potter

According to multiple sources the Houston Texans will be signing free agent tight end Zach Potter (6-7, 280 lbs.) to a contract. Potter was an undrafted rookie out of Nebraska who was signed by the New York Jets, at that time Potter was a defensive end. Potter did not make the final roster coming out of camp in 2009 with the Jets and was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It was with the Jaguars in 2009 that Potter was converted to a tight end and appeared in 45 games (2009-2012). He has 11 career recpetions for 83 yards and was mainly used as a blocking tight end.

Potter sat out the 2013 season before singing his deal with the Texans. With the addition of Potter the Texans now have three tight ends under contract including Owen Daniels and Ryan Griffin.

The addition of Potter is the start of the Bill O’Brien era in Houston and the building of the 2014 roster.
