Tom Savage Meets With O’Brien After His Pro Day

According to Alex Marvez (Fox Sports 1) Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback Tom Savage met with Houston Texans Head Coach Bill O’Brien after his Pro Day today. Savage has been with three schools in his college career, starting with Rutgers (2009-2010), Arizona (2011) and Pittsburgh (2012-2013).

As a freshman with Rutgers, he was named an All-American freshman after throwing for 2,211 yards with 14 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Savage transferred from Rutgers after his sophomore season after losing his starting position due to a hand injury. Savage transferred to Arizona, but soon left after Rich Rodriguez was hired as the head coach citing his style did no fit his style. He attempted to head back to Rutgers but was denied by the NCAA and then headed to Pitt for the 2013 season. He was named starter for the 2013 season where he threw for 2,958 yards with 21 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

At 6-4 and 228 lbs. Savage has the size and arm needed and wanted by NFL teams. He will be considered a project by NFL teams, but his raw talent could be enough for teams to take the chance.
