Jimmy Garoppolo Worked Out By Bill O’Brien

According to Tony Pauline, Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien and quarterback coach George Godsey privately worked out Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo today at the Northwestern Pro-Day. This marks the second quarterback that O’Brien and Godsey have worked out privately in as many days

Garoppolo was a relative unknown during the season playing at Eastern Illinois where he lit up his senior season throwing for 4,489 yards with 48 touchdowns to only 8 interceptions. His stock has risen since his performance at the East-West Shrine Game which led to him being invited to the Senior Bowl.

At 6-2 and 226 lbs. Garoppolo won the 2013 Walter Payton Award for the FCS’ Outstanding player for the season and he garnered Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year. His quick release and football I.Q. have attracted NFL teams to this potential project at the NFL level.

O’Brien has taken a hands on approach this off-season to see the quarterback prospects in person and it would expect this to continue until the pro days are complete.
