Texans to Release Evan Frierson

According to Aaron Wilson, the Houston Texans will be releasing inside linebacker Evan Frierson before the new league year opens up. Frierson was a rookie free agent from Illinois State that was invited to training camp but was sidelined quickly with a leg injury that kept him out the majority of camp.

Frierson showed in OTAs and Rookie Mini Camp the speed needed to be on the field and really stood out in coverage against tight ends and running backs. Even thought the previous staff had a plan for him by putting him on injured reserve and get him on the field for the 2014 season, the new staff under Head Coach Bill O’Brien want to go in a different direction with the roster.

Frierson played at Illionois State and is 6-2 and 234 lbs. and is expected to garner some interest on the open market.
