Texans Free Agency: Mini Exodus (Day 2)

The Houston Texans day two of free agency went by without any real news on the horizon. Just plenty of former Texans on their way to new teams for next season.

Day 2 News

– The Houston Texans saw four from their 2013 53 man roster find new homes on day two of free agency.

Defensive tackle Earl Mitchell signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Inside Linebacker Joe Mays signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Outside linebacker Bryan Braman signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Defensive tackle Terrell McClain signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Braman and McClain will not count in the compensatory picks formula for the 2015 season since they were non-tendered restricted free agents.

– Early rumors in the morning pointed tight end Brandon Pettigrew possibly being a fit for the Texans. Pettigrew is holding up the market for tight ends and once he signs it should open the market for other tight end signings.

– The Houston Chronicle’s John McClain pointed out the quarterback Matt Schaub will not be headed anywhere anytime soon for the Texans. He will stay in Houston and looks like he will be part of the team for the near future. McClain said that Schaub is the best quarterback compared to what is available on the free agent market.
