Texans Free Agency: Weight Gain (Day 8)

The Houston Texans have finally made a slight noise in free agency with the signing of one of Romeo Crennel’s players from Kansas City. The signing is an interesting one especially when it shows the Texans are trying to add bigger players to the defensive line for Crennel’s two gap scheme.

– The Texans made a little movement today when they signed free agent defensive lineman Jerrell Powe.  Powe was drafted by Romeo Crennel in 2011 and he measures in at 6-2 and 331 lbs.

– According to Tony Pauline, the Texans have spent time with UCF Quarterback Blake Bortles prior to his Pro Day on Wednesday that is closed to media. The meeting was described as “extensive” with Bortles and the Texans are continuing working on finding their next quarterback.

– Also after Teddy Bridewater’s Pro Day on Monday, the Texans also privately met with the Louisville quarterback. The Texans were represented well on the Pro Day with Bill O’Brien, George Godsey and Rick Smith and it was also noted that O’Brien followed Bridgewater closely the entire day.
