Texans Sign Ricardo Mathews

The Houston Texans have signed free agent defensive end Ricardo Mathews to a deal. Mathews was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 7th round (238th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati.

The 6-3 300lbs. defensive lineman has spent the past four seasons with the Colts and has totaled 51 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. He has appeared in 52 games and started 6 of them in that four year period.

Adding Mathews gives the Texans some more defensive line help and more than likely another piece at the defensive end. Mathews at the moment looks like a depth signing and with his experience in the NFL could be a rotational piece when the season kicks off.
