Jimmie Ward Visits the Texans

According to Adam Caplan (ESPN NFL Insider) reported that the Houston Texans have brought in Northern Illinois’ safety Jimmie Ward. Ward marks the second known safety that the Texans have brought in for pre-draft visits.

Ward appeared in 55 games for the Huskies in four seasons and totaled in 320 total tackles (189 solo, 131 assists), two quarterback sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 26 pass deflections and 11 interceptions.

His Senior season, Ward led the team 77 tackles, 14 pass defended and 6 interceptions. which led him to a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award (The Nation’s top Defensive Back). At 5-11 and 193 lbs., he garnered 3rd team All-American, 1st team All-Mac which put him in discussion as one of the top safeties in the 2014 NFL Draft.

He sat out the NFL combine with a foot injury after being ruled unable to participate at the combine by doctors.

Ward appears to be a day one or early day two prospect.
