Texans Ink Two Rookies

According to ESPN’s, Field Yates, the Houston Texans have signed one of their 6th round picks in running back Alfred Blue and a 7th round pick in safety Lonnie Ballentine.

Blue was selected in the 6th round (181st overall) out of LSU and is expected to push for the 3rd running back spot heading in into training camp. Playing in 40 games with the Tigers, he rushed for 1,253 yards with 11 touchdowns.

Ballentine was taken in the 7th round (256th overall) better known as Mr. Irrelevant. The former Memphis safety played in 42 games for the Tigers in four years. He had 176 total tackles with 3 career interceptions.

The rookie safety will be looking to be a depth player and special teams contributor in order to make the 53-man roster.
