Ryan Fitzpatrick Named the Starting Quarterback for the Texans

Today after the first mandatory Mini-Camp practice Head Coach Bill O’Brien named 10 year veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick the starting quarterback for the 2014 season.

After a voluntary mini camp and OTAs, O’Brien felt he has seen enough from the veteran to name him the starter citing the preparation, command and accuracy Fitzpatrick has displayed. The entire team was addressed of the decision prior to taking the field for practice today of O’Brien decision.

Fitzpatrick was signed prior to the offseason to a two year deal worth $7.5 million.

Fitzpatrick has started 77 games since entering the league in 2005 with stints with the St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans.
