Houston Texans Awarded WR Montay Crockett off of Waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Houston Texans have claimed wide receiver Montay Crockett off of waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Crockett was a rookie last season out of Georgia Southern and spent time with both the Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars. Crockett was waived prior to the divisional round playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers to make room for an extra linebacker.

Crockett was activated in last December to the Jaguars active roster but did not appear in a game. Crockett is former high school teammates with Jadeveon Clowney at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

At Georgia Southern, Crockett appeared in 46 games and had 32 receptions for 535 yards and 3 touchdowns.

At his pro day, Crockett ran a 4.39 40-yard dash, which would’ve placed him in third among wide receivers had he been invited to the NFL combine. At the regional combine in New Orleans shortly after, Crockett reported an impressive 4.30 40-yard dash, which if accurate, would have placed him as one of the fastest players in the draft.
