Houston Texans to Hire Danny Barrett as their Running Back Coach

Just a week after being dismissed by the Miami Dolphins as their running back coach, the Houston Texans are set to hire Danny Barrett for the same position to replace the departed Charles London.

Barrett coached two seasons with the Dolphins and was instrumental in helping Jay Ajayi to rush for 1,272 yards in a breakout 2016 season.

Barrett played in the CFL for 15 years for Calgary, Toronto, British Columbia and Ottawa. He was also the head coach of Saskatchewan Roughriders for 6 seasons in which his team made the playoffs every season.

He also coached quarterbacks at the University of Buffalo before arriving the University of Central Florida in 2011. With the Knights, Barrett coaches running backs and quarterbacks. Barrett coached for George O’Leary at Central Florida while O’Brien worked for O’Leary at Georgia Tech.
